Update: departure is postponed …our first days on the boat

After a great dinner, goodbyes with our friends from work and telling everybody we are leaving the next day we meet our captain Joe and he tells us that the weather forecast has changed and we will leave in 5 days.

At the beginning we were disappointed, but no long. We take just the really needed things and row in the dinghy to the catamaran to spend there our first night.

Out Catamaran Dove is 30 feet long. Between the hulls is a “living room” only 6 feet and there is a table and place to sit around (and where Joe sleeps). Our cabin is in back of one of the hulls (port) (designed for couples who love each other, because is so narrow that you need to sleep really close to each other:) There is also bathroom (which stinks so much that we use it least often as possible), kitchen and actually a lot of storage place around. Everything together is like 15 square meters – but you can stand straight in 1/3 of that.

Joe shows us how everything works. Our cabin is great but the mold on the walls and bed. We connect our sleeping bags and create our hygienic place for the first night.

We wake up hearing the noise of the engine. “Has he changed his mind and we are leaving today? What about the rest of our stuff?” are our first thoughts. A nice sunny day is outside. Joe is just trying the motor. After a while we row to the shore. The boat is anchored next to the mens’ club (dream place for every man), where we eat our breakfast and enjoy the normal toilet. We move the rest of our luggage to the boat, clean the mold, tidy up and unpack our belongings.

Dinner, beer and great sunset with the see like a mirror – end of the first day in our new home.

The next days we just hang around, write articles, get to know the boat and look forward for our departure
